Blog Academic Writing Christian Hemetsberger

Hello everybody,

My name is Christian Hemetsberger and I would like to welcome you to my blog for the course Academic Writing English. I hope you enjoy reading my entries and would be glad receiving feedback from you.

At the beginning I would like to inform you about my writing in English and what I want to improve in this semester. In the last semester I attended two English courses and had to write several business texts and an intercultural paper. In this semester Academic Writing is the only English course I am attending. Besides the paper for this course I am writing e-mails to European friends in English which are rather informal. Writing English is time consuming for me and I sometimes have problems expressing myself in an appropriate way. Therefore writing in an exam situation still is stressful and difficult for me. Nevertheless I like writing English, because it is a language which is spoken nearly worldwide. Therefore it is a useful tool to get in touch with other cultures.

In this semester I want to find a topic I am interested in and produce a paper I can be proud of. Concrete I want to improve my ability of narrowing down a specific topic, structuring a paper in a comprehensible way and expressing myself appropriately in an English academic paper.
