Academic Writing

Hey hey!!

I'm happy that we discussed punctuation last class. I always have problems when it comes to making a comma or not... It's very different to our Austrian writing style, but well, actually it's easier with the no comma rule with two exceptions!

I need to work on my abstract now. I think it will be a main part of the grade and it should be perfect at the end!! I'm so glad that we learn those things in class, cause I'll need it the whole summer for writing my diploma thesis.

I agree with you - I found it also quite helpful that we talked about punctuation in the last lesson... However, I still have problems with implementing these punctuation rules as they are, as you have already mentioned, that different from our regulations. Nevertheless, I will try to be aware of comma setting while proofreading my paper and correct my punctuation if necessary...

I have also revised my abstract considering the advice of the last meeting and the posted sheet "How to write an abstract"...

I have to admit that so far I didn't ever pay attention to my punctuation in texts. (Maybe thats why they were never really right ;)

But with last class for me it got also easier to write and I'm currently re-checking my paper for punctuation mistakes. Hopefully I catch them all!
