2nd blog entry

stefanie.schwaiger.uni-linz, 20. März 2011, 15:36

Hello everyone,

I finally feel a little bit more comfortable using this blog and will start right away with a second blog entry.

After the class last tuesday and the discussion about our topic, I had to revise my proposal and really narrow it down quite a bit. My group members provided great feedback and advice on how to do this! I am still not sure if I'll be able to fit everything into 2000 words, but I'll give my best.

I think constructing an outline like Mr. Brewster showed us will help me very much when creating my article. I like the idea of structuring everything into detail because this way I won't forget important information and at the same time I will be able to sort out redundancies.

Well, good luck to you all on the revised proposal!

Stef

Hi Stefanie!

I understand what you mean, I also had difficulties with narrowing down my topic but I think it got easier with writing a thesis statement in class. For me it is a comlepely new experience to plan a paper in such a detailed way.

Wish you a nice sunday!

Vicky

Hello,

I have chosen a topic that can be written hundreds of pages. My problem is the same, namely how to narrow down my topic and focus on specific areas. It is pretty challenging for me to write an essay with aproximately 6 pages. As Mr. Brewster said it is painful at the beginning, but we benefit it at the endLächelnd.

Have nice evening!

Meifen

I completely agree with you, Viktoria! I have already written a 1.500 word paper in another English class, but in a completely different way as we are supposed to do it now. So planning and writing a paper in an academic way is a new experience for me too, but I think that with the theoretic knowledge of this class, it shouldn´t be a problem. At least I hope so  ;)

Till Tuesday

It is good to recieve feedback

johannes.slacik.uni-linz, 20. März 2011, 22:48

Hi everyone,

I truly enjoed the last english session, because of the quality of our interaktion. The feedback we all recieved from each other was really valuable. I believe we have gotten a pretty good understanding of how to build a thesis and how to lay out a strong thesis in a sentence. The most difficult thing though continues to be narrowing the chosen subject.

To construct the outline of the paper was not as challenging as I anticipated, since I had already researched for the topic a week ago and had plenty of sources to go by. Although, I am interested to know what Mr. Brewster has to say about my paper outline.

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, I look forward seeing you next Tuesday and wish you a pleasant start into the coming week.

Best Regards - Johannes Slacik
