Searching for sources

pia.haslinger.uni-linz, 21. März 2011, 21:01

Hey everybody,

So this week I needed to find some sources and guess what it wasn't easy at all to find some trustworthy AND useful. So far I only did online research but I'm thinking of heading to the local library the next week to find some books that may help me. I have to say that it is really difficult for me to find sources which I can use for my topic, so maybe I have to change the topic? Unentschlossen

Maybe some of you can help me. Do you have any advices where I can find sources that are trustworthy on the internet. Where do you search for sources for your paper?

I guess i see you all tomorrow at class.

Bye P

Hi Pia!!

I have also started to search for some trustworthy sources. Sometimes it can be really hard to find one, when the topic is not so generally discussed. But it can be positive too! There is no need to write about things everybody writes about. An original and creative paper would be much more interesting and enriching. I wish you a good luck and i definitely approve the idea of checking the library. Maybe you should check it online first- if they have any usefull books at all. But according to my experience there are always nice and helpful ladies at the libraries! :) Or do you maybe know someone who is interested in the topic you are writing about? It might be very helpfull too- he could help you to create your opinion about this topic and recommend some interesting sources.

Today i talked to a very good friend of me, who is very interested in my topic and he showed me a new point of view.

Wish i could help you more! If i can, dont hesitate to contact me! :)

Hello there,

doris.baier.uni-linz, 23. März 2011, 16:40

To find sources, I usually try my luck on the websites of newspapers and magazines, but that probably depends on you topic. For my topic (you may remember: Nigeria and oil-companies^^) I also went to the website of Greenpace, to Human-Rights sites and to the sites of the oil-companies involved.

In additon, I also employed good, old Google, but I am sure you already thought of thatLachend It largely depends on your topic, if you find something in a libery as well, so I can only wish you the best with that.

Have fun,

Doris
