Katharina's writing blog - 2nd revision of the proposal

Phuuuu,

I just finished my revision of the proposal according to Dr. Brewster's feedback. I already noticed myself that British history is way too much for an eight-pages-paper. But to what I narrowed it down now, I am not very confident I'll be able to fill these eight pages Stirnrunzelnd  Doris suggested drawing a concept map - and it worked! I have never done that before because I didn't know how to work and deal with it. Surprisingly enough it helped! Lachend Now the outline is also ready and I am quite happy with it! It really is a tough process.

Besides that I learned something about me. I always thought of me as a visual type but when Dr. Brewster explained his style of card piles and switching them around and so on....I thought: Hey, this sounds familiar....hm....maybe I am not as much as a visual type as I always thought I am....interesting - should change my learning strategies accordingly!

Hi Katharina,

it's very great that you already finished your outline and proposal.

I am still strugglling with my proposal, because I have chosen a topic which is too broad. The titel of my topic is " education is the keystone to success". After I have done brainstorming for my topic, I realized that it can be written more than just 8 pages. I decided take China as a example, but still I have the feeling that it is very difficult to narrow down the ideas. Could you give me an advise? Thank you in advance!

Greets,

Meifen

I just can tell you how I did my outline. First I brainstormed. I wrote down some catchwords and afterwords I put them into a mindmap. If you do this, you get a lot of different ways you can follow. You can also follow more and link them. The most important thing for me was, to narrow my topic a little bit. So I resigned some "ways" of my mind map because I realized that they may not really fit to my thesis. So when you go along your ways, which are spicked with lots of catchwords and bubbles, you might already have your outline. You just need to transform it from a mindmap into the outline structure :)

Hope my idea could help you! :D

best regards, Alex
